Biography:

 

Cherilyn MacNeil is a South African singer, musician and composer. She is best known for her work as Dear Reader, a SAMA (South African Music Award) winning alternative-pop project signed to the respected indie label, City Slang. In 2013, MacNeil won the Deutsche Filmpreis for 'Best Film Music' for her work on the film “Oh Boy”—her debut as a film composer. A versatile composer for the screen, MacNeil’s work ranges from expansive, atmospheric piano scores to emotive, exuberant pop, rock and folk songs, rollicking children’s music and unusual acapella vocal creations. Cherilyn has lived and worked in Berlin since 2010.
