IS CHERILYN MACNEIL
Cherilyn was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. In 2010 she moved to Berlin, Germany to pursue a career in music. There, as Dear Reader she released 4 art-pop albums through the respected indie label, City Slang, recorded a live album with the Babelsberg Film Orchestra, and played countless tours across Europe. 'Dear Reader' has won two South African Music Awards. (6 Nominations)
Cherilyn also composes music for film and television, and won the Deutsche Film Preis in 2013 for her contribution to the score for 'Oh Boy’. Most recently, she composed and recorded the score for ‘Petronella Apfelmus’, an animated series for children.
In 2021 she started a new band with her friend JL - a two-headed pop-punk monster they dubbed, Crow Baby. Their debut album, “Get Yourself Together”, is set for release at the end of 2023.
